CHOCOLATE TASTING AND CUSTOM DINNER

A hot main course cooked by the Club's Head Chef followed by a
formal talk on varieties of cocoa bean and sampling chocolate
from several countries.

  

The talk will encompass the history, geography and climatic conditions required by the growing beans; the three types of cocoa beans and their distinct characteristics; and how we get from a cocoa bean to the finished chocolate.

 

The tasting will involve chocolate produced from each single bean type but grown in different countries in order that the influence of soil and climatic conditions can be seen to alter the final taste of the chocolate. The actual number of chocolates tasted will depend on availability, but will not be less than fourteen – in small amounts only! Full tasting notes will be provided.

 

Men please note, I generally find that those of you who are not particularly interested in chocolate actually get the most out of the evening, so please join us!
